Account Manager

Context
With dozens of products available on the LiveIntent platform, managing user access and permissions became increasingly complex. Not all accounts had access to the same products, and within those accounts, not all users had the same permissions. A user could be an editor in one product but only a viewer in another, creating confusion and inefficiencies in managing access at scale. To address this challenge, LiveIntent developed the Account Manager.
Design Challenge
  • Simplify the complexity of product access across multiple accounts.
  • Ensure permissions reflect real-world scenarios where a user’s role may vary by product.
  • Create a scalable model for managing permissions that reduces administrative burden.
  • Provide clarity and consistency in how access is granted and maintained.
Solution Overview
  • Group-Based Permissions: Shifted from user-level to group-level permissions, allowing admins to manage access for multiple users at once.
  • Flexible Access Control: Supported nuanced scenarios where users may have edit rights in one product but limited access in another.
  • Centralized Management: Built a unified interface for account admins to easily manage product access across teams and products.
  • Scalability: Designed the framework to support LiveIntent’s growing suite of products and diverse customer needs.
Impact
  • Reduced Complexity: Simplified account management by consolidating permissions into group-level assignments.
  • Efficiency: Saved time for administrators managing large teams with varied access needs.
  • Clarity & Transparency: Improved visibility into who has access to what, minimizing errors and confusion.
  • Future-Proofing: Created a scalable permissions model capable of supporting LiveIntent’s expanding product ecosystem.
